Just Me
Name: Chike [“God’s power”]
Pronounciation: chee-kay
Nickname(s): Chi [“God”]
Gender: Female
Age: Three Years
Breed: Lion
Pride: None, at the moment. She’s considering her options.
Who I am
Description: Average in side and mostly typical in color. Her most distinctive marking is the dark line that runs from her nose, down her spine and to the base of her tail as well as the dark patches of brown fur over her shoulders. She is mostly blind in her left eye and tends to always walk with Ayo on that side.
Life Left Behind:
It is not unusual for a male to claim a pride and ruthlessly slaughter the cubs born to the previous male. It is an entirely different matter when it is the intent of an entire pride to commit to the slaughter. When the father of their litter was on his way to being overthrown by an intruding male, Ayo and Chike’s mother knew it was coming. She knew that there was nothing that the lionesses wanted more than to be rid of the who they considered to be an incompetent, senile leader. With his fall, she knew that they would want nothing of his bloodline amongst them, either, and had no doubt that they would take pleasure in participating in the removal of her litter.
Regrettably, she could not rescue the entire litter and made her escape with only two. Her own life was short lived, seeing as she was taken down in the midst of attempting to hunt for herself after hiding the cubs. It was only her intrusion on another pride’s territory that saved her cubs, who she had hidden there. It is unthinkable, really, that any pride would take in a strange pair of cubs but perhaps the ties of family held some meaning for the strange pride’s leader—their uncle, it seemed.
There was only so much they would allow themselves to do, though, and as soon as he was old enough to sufficiently fend for himself Ayo was forced to leave. Chike, however, would have nothing of the separation and wound up setting out with her brother as opposed to remaining in the safety of their uncle’s pride.
My Understanding: Opposite of Ayo, her mask is one of kindness and a touch of shy demeanor. In the eyes of anyone else, she seems almost timid and rather soft-spoken. She seems to allow Ayo to do all the talking and won’t often speak much unless she is being spoken to directly. She does not usually join in on conversations without an invitation but will always, always be listening even when others think she isn’t.
Beneath the cover of her kindness, she is everything that Ayo pretends to be. She is a fiercely violent lioness. She finds great enjoyment in the idea and feel of taking another’s life for any reason—a hunt or simply to slaughter them without any real need or provocation. She likes fights, likes arguments and takes immense pleasure in the knowledge that one day, she’s going to drop her mask at just the right moment and no one is going to know what to do with themselves when sweet Chike suddenly becomes a monster.
The only thing that is truly important to her is Ayo, whom she loves dearly though she would never vocally or physically express it. Thankfully, she knows that he knows it.
Likes: Seeing others angry, hearing others yell, blood, fighting, loud noises, Ayo
Dislikes: Cowards, silence, calm, affectionate behavior
